One thing I didn’t expect when we started our spice company was how attached I would feel to every single blend we create.

The reality of running a small business is that if a product doesn't sell, we eventually have to stop making it. That was the case for our Poultry Seasoning, and boy, did I love that blend.

We’ve recently had requests to bring it back (which we hope to do in the near future!), but until then, I wanted to share a few of our best-selling spice blends that are incredible on poultry and make fantastic stand-ins.

What are the best spices for poultry?

I don't believe in hard-and-fast rules when it comes to seasoning a chicken thigh, but when you're planning a full meal, knowing which flavors naturally complement each other helps.

  • For a comforting, classic roast chicken or turkey: Think savory herbs like rosemary, thyme, sage, chives, and marjoram, balanced with garlic and onion. This profile is perfect alongside classic sides like mashed potatoes, a crisp salad, or roasted green vegetables.
  • For Asian-inspired chicken dishes: Reach for garlic, onion, ginger, red pepper flakes, and scallions.
  • For a warm, smoky kick: Opt for smoked paprika, sweet paprika, garlic, onion, and a touch of cayenne.

Why use premade spice blends?

A balanced spice blend takes the guesswork and stress out of dinner, letting you focus on enjoying the process. Just grab the blend that fits your meal's profile, sprinkle, and pop it in the oven.

It helps us, too! Even though we crafted all of our blends in our own kitchen, having them premade and bottled when I'm rushing to get dinner on the table makes all the difference!

No Poultry Seasoning? Here’s what to use instead

If you're looking for that classic poultry seasoning experience, these four blends are my favorite stand-ins:

1. Adobo Seasoning One of the very first blends we created, and still a best-seller today. It’s a classic, all-purpose blend of Pink Himalayan Salt, garlic, onion, black pepper, oregano, and turmeric. We use it on everything from whole roast chickens and breakfast scrambles to crispy potatoes and breaded chicken tenders.

2. Super Gyro Our best-selling Greek seasoning is herby, beautifully balanced, and AIP-friendly! It combines Pink Himalayan Salt, oregano, marjoram, thyme, and garlic. It’s a seamless swap for traditional poultry seasoning, fantastic in Greek dishes and salads, and one of my absolute favorites for seasoning a Thanksgiving turkey.

3. Garlic & Herb Another garlic-forward, AIP-friendly favorite. This mix of garlic, Pink Himalayan Salt, onion, oregano, thyme, and sage offers that quintessential poultry flavor profile. Try it on whole chicken, turkey, roasted potatoes, eggs, or even in a breakfast quiche.

4. Little Palates Herb Garden Part of our line of salt-free spice blends, this one is designed for the little chefs in your life. Ideal for baby-led weaning or getting kids involved in the kitchen. Made with onion, garlic, basil, parsley, and sage, it’s delicious on everything and completely family-friendly. It’s particularly wonderful for a cozy roast chicken dinner or your holiday turkey.

Whatever you're cooking up, we've got you covered!

Happy cooking,

Hayley

I wanted a quick, light, and delicious meal, so I finally put that gluten-free gnocchi to work. I already had a clear vision for the dish: pan-seared in a skillet with sweet cherry tomatoes, freshly grated parmesan, torn basil, and our Amore Italian Seasoning.

    Is the Paleo Diet over?

It’s wild to remember a time when opening Instagram didn’t immediately launch a 30-second, cinematic video of a mouthwatering meal. But back in 2010 when we started our Paleo recipe blog, all we had was a basic website, a Facebook page, and a YouTube channel. (Cue the "back in my day..." groans!) These days, it feels like text-based blogs are a thing of the past. Everyone is heading straight to TikTok for quick video fixes from their favorite creators.

16 years into our careers as recipe creators, I've been wondering lately if the diet that sparked our journey is still relevant today. You might be wondering the same thing if you've been with us since the beginning.
